Expressionists

Expessionism, as a deliberate art movement, evolved around the turn of the 20th Century as a reaction to design and ' art and art for art's sake' (such as Cubism and Fauvism). The artists, who were primarily German, were exploring emotional experiences and humankind's  inner journey.

Many of the German expressionists favoured printmaking, such as woodcuts, etching and drypoints and lithographs.
